Introduction:
For more than 120 years, Dole’s mission has been to deliver high-quality fresh and packaged fruit with positive impact on people, planet and prosperity. Our promise to People, Planet and Prosperity are inspired by the spirit of ‘Sampo Yoshi,’ a Japanese philosophy that views the well-being of society and business as interdependent, ensuring the business is beneficial to all three – the seller, the buyer and the community.
We are doubling down on our mission to do business differently and joining forces with strategic partners in order to work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations to better our world today and for future generations to come. Explore our promises below.
Dole Promises:
1. Contributing to Good Nutrition for 1 Billion – Sustainable nutrition for 1 billion people by 2025 – We commit to contributing to good nutrition for 1 billion people by 2025. We will do this by improving nutrition knowledge and awareness as well as the affordability, distribution and supply of our products.
2. Working Towards Zero Fruit Loss – Move towards zero fruit loss from Dole farms to markets by 2025 – We are moving towards zero fruit loss from Dole farms to customers by 2025. Fruit loss and waste contribute to climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. Diverting fruit waste from landfills is good for the planet and for people as we repurpose fruit into new uses. This allows farmers to get more money for fruit that may have otherwise been wasted.
3. Aiming for Zero Fossil-Based Plastic Packaging – Move towards zero fossil-based plastic packaging by 2025

Working towards Net Zero Carbon in Our Operations – Carbon neutral in our operations by 2030 – We aim to build a supply chain that keeps the planet at the heart of our efforts and contributes to reversing climate change. By 2030, we will source 100% of energy for our processing facilities from renewable sources, reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in our own operations by 50% and work with our partners to reduce GHG emissions across the value chain.
5. Working Towards Zero Processed Sugar – Eliminate processed sugar in all our products by 2025 – As part of our goal to care for more people by contributing to good nutrition for 1 billion people by 2025, we are working to eliminate processed sugar in all our products by 2025. We’re focused on using natural ingredients that deliver the same flavor, taste profile that our customers expect and enjoy.
6. Shared Value for All Stakeholders – We will continue to positively impact all our farmers, communities and people working for Dole – through our commitment to equal opportunity, living wages, and an ever-increasing level of safety, nutrition, and wellbeing. We also seek to advance human rights within our direct operations and our supply chains by building a culture of transparency and accountability. For our shareholders we aim to increase the value of our business by 50% by 2025.
