By: Carl Harvey Aque & Jeffrey Magayano

With the goal to be Fit for Future High-Performance Organization, Dolefil has already embarked its Integrated Management System (IMS) Journey through an IMS Awareness Training for identified 60 IMS Champions and their respective 59 alternates on January 30 – February 1, 2023 and “Context of the Organization” Strategic Level Risk Assessment on February 27, 2023 attended by 51 Dolefil Leaders. The purpose of these training courses was to onboard employees regarding the needed requirements and equip them with the rightful knowledge relating to IMS. The training highlighted three systems which were inherent in the success of the IMS implementation: ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety System).

ISO 9001:2015. The adoption of a quality management system is a strategic decision for an organization that can help improve its overall performance and provide a sound basis for sustainable development initiatives.

  • To consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and to enhance customer satisfaction.

ISO 14001:2015. Provides organizations with a framework to protect the environment and respond to changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-economic needs.

  • Assisting the organization in the fulfilment of compliance obligations;
  • Enhancing environmental performance

ISO 45001:2018. Provides a framework for managing Occupational Health & Safety (OH & S) risks and opportunities. The aim and intended outcomes of the OH & S management system are to prevent work-related injury and ill health to workers and to provide safe and healthy workplaces.

  • Enables an organization to manage its OH & S risks and improve its OH & S performance.
  • Assist an organization to fulfil its legal requirements and other requirements.

With these, the training highlighted that the success of these management systems depends on leadership, commitment and participation from all levels and functions of the organization, and availability of resources. With these, IMS champions are expected to spearhead the needful change management in their respective areas of operations.

As a follow through to the training, a Risk Assessment External Training was conducted on February 28, 2023, in which IMS Champions thoroughly conducted a risk register covering QMS, EMS, and OH & S as part of the workshop.
